You move to the head of the Paceline 585 class with that rig.

My 585, and my 585 riding crew.

(PS: not sure how to get the resolution better given the file upload limitations)

That build is near perfect. What do newer bikes bring to the table? Not much. I suppose room for larger tires.

That 585 Ultra is far easier to service, that’s for sure.

Yep, it rides near-perfect!

My only gripes about it are minor.
For example, I wanted to run an electronic drivetrain but there are no holes for running Di2 wires internally. If I used SRAM wireless, the unused cable bosses on the frame would be showing. Also, the max tire size my 585 can fit is 27mm (measured). Frame is a little heavy at 1000g. I suppose due to fairly thick wall thicknesses for frames at the time. But the frame feels solid as a result, unlike modern carbon frames where you can pinch a tube and see the wall bend.

Does anyone here have a Look X85 cyclocross bike? Nice ride? They seem to be very rare.

Would be great to have one in the stable next to my 585 for gravel type riding if updated with a modern groupset.

(I realise not strictly 585 related but older Look related! two out of three numbers/letters the same...)

Happy how my red one turned out. Heavily influenced by this place.
