That is a gun...............

It could launch a 2000#+ 'bullet" about 20 miles out to sea (or not).

FWIW, I don't think they were ever used...........

Yup, WW2 era 16" gun for coastal defense. This one's located in Battery Townsley in the Marin Headlands.

We've had cool weather here, but not too cool to ride.

And among the leaves there are sticks...

No damage done, fortunately I was just cruising along when the chain said stop... right now.

Hangin with the Homies.

22nd annual Homie Fall Fest yesterday. Perfect day for it and the last amazing biking day in the forecast up here in. MN. This is the back yard of QBP and Surly. Beards and big calves abound.

I hung around for the first 3 1/2 hours of nonsense and chaos before returning to respectable family life. New bar start in recent years with the gentrification of the Sunrise but still very much the same Homie.

Tearing through South Minneapolis streets and alleys close to a 100 hooligans, mostly on Singlespeeds, began the annual march into the unknown. "The Minneapolis Mafia", Drainage chute drop ins. Bootleg single track. Partying in the woods. A guy in flannel peeing on a bush. Feats of Strength. Bike Derby. Trials at the big rock in the woods. The Homie is a rolling all day party.

I may have bailed early with a few of the elders in the mix, but it always goes all day and into the night. One more year of the event that is not an event. It never happened. Again.
