The one I got is low on the price list for Moultons and I think the retail is about $2700 complete. They make some that are full on race machines with carbon wheels and Campy kits. The top of the line sells for about $20k. It would be fun to test one of those.

I don't know when I will retire....i know I won't be standing at the bench in 10 years....but 5? Maybe? But I wanted to get one of these before I did hang it up knowing that I'll have less dough then and would have to pay more. I'm glad I got it.

For me the main use will be as an autocross pit bike. I walk or skateboard many miles a day at a race and now I'll ride the Moulton. I've rigged up a bike carrier on my race trailer so I can roll the car on and secure the bike and it's off to the races. Should be fun.

Great story Dave and I love that this came to fruition years later.

Not that I could do the same but I fully understand the desire to not make your own and to purchase a Moulton.

Your use for it is great and will certainly start many convo. at the track.

It's truly one of those things where my preconceived notion of what this bike would ride like was utterly and instantly destroyed when I rode it. I had been on older small wheeled bikes including a non truss Moulton.

I don't know if this makes sense as a for instance but it's similar to the first time I threw an Aerobee "frisbee. It just didn't make sense to me. Then I knew...

This will probably be the next one on the work stand.
This is the frame that was given away by Winning magazine in 93’ or 94’.
I purchased it about a year ago from my friend Tom. He was the winner of the giveaway. He decided to start thinning the herd and asked me if I wanted it. Well, I got this and two other bikes from him. A nice pink Vitus 979 and a nice Spectrum Ti from the late 90’s.

picked this up for a winter project. The bike is now disassembled and went to the alignment table for a check up before I start cleaning and reassemble.

Initial build done. Proper seatpost, stem, and cable stops inbound. And going to do 23mm tubs to give a little extra clearance.. 8.5kg as shown. Full gallery tomorrow after the first ride.

I thought you had a threader. I can walk you through it if needed... Just insert liner tubing from the back and it'll poke out of the front one easily, then wire into the tube and push that through. Once it's out the back, pull out the liner and you're done.
