Another day cruising backroadz in Wenatchee.. Rolled south out of town along the river toward Malaga and then took a road up the canyon that climbed on forever up into remote cherry orchards before turning into the most heavenly twisty pine-forest backroad you've ever seen. A few miles of winding around on that and more punchy little kickers popped me out on top of ridge before a screamer descent dropped some 3,000ft back into the valley. I enjoyed this one even more than the trip up to Mission Ridge last night - even with the 107 deg temps early on and some decently tired legs. I've got one more day tomorrow and am thinking I'll head NE on this one up toward Cashmere or Leavenworth - see what the weather is doing. Thunder and lightning rolled in tonight and I certainly wouldn't want to get caught out in the if I have to ride later in the day tomorrow..

Oh, and as good as the road riding is, the gravel here looks beyond fantastic. Next time.

Here's my view on this.

I have come across a group ride where someone showed up on a tri bar. And it was not good because they were "unstable", lacking in confidence and the necessary skill to control their bike and riding in the paceline in such a way that make others feel safe and comfortable around them.

On the other hand, I have ridden with plenty of "tri-bar" riders who demonstrated just the opposite: very stable, very predictable, very confidence-inspiring, an outstanding contributing member of the paceline.

I welcome the latter group of people in my group rides. I have no problem there at all.

What this taught me and it's something I learned very early in my life as well, like maybe when I was 10 years old is this:

Exercise your critical thinking. Don't let others impose their assumptions and opinions on you without first questioning their validity, understanding the context whereby those statements were made and finally, test it out yourself in real life to see whether it holds up to the truth or your own personal experience.

Those are my thoughts.

Respectfully.

I rode out to the NJ Festival of Ballooning yesterday, and the family met me there. Pretty cool event, over 100 balloons of all shapes inflated and ascended at about the same time. It was nice to watch as the sun was going down. Cool way to fly!

We do an annual sunset ride from the base of Angeles Crest Highway to the Mt. Wilson observatory, usually on the weekend of the summer solstice but this year slightly delayed. We even have SAG support, it's great fun even if you discover that you have a crappy front light (last year) or have neglected to fully charge your good front light and it goes kaputt on the descent (this year).

I just got my rebuilt wheels on my restomod (will post better pics of it in the future) so decided to go old school. Tremendous.

Photos from your rides.

When I was 20-25 y.o that was one of the bikes to have!

Strange to see how that brand disappeared.
