Gone fat!
After a great early season for XC skiing we have lost our snowpack. It's fatty season now. Two hours of this on the Pugsley is a ripping good time and quite a workout too.

The other is down the dirt road behind our house in Hartwick, on to the county land which has nice trails. LEt's do it together once we re-freeze after this latest thaw. |

what an amazing and well needed day for me. January 1, and the temp was 58F and sunny at 11AM.
If that is not a sign from the cycling gods, i dont know what is. It was a wonderfully therapeutic day out on the road today.

Nothing near as epic as you winter warriors, just a nice 32 miler with my wife to start 2019 off right.

Two and a half hours, including a climb of about 1000'. Happy Canyon in the SYV for the Happy New Year's ride.

First 50-miler of 2019
First ride of the new year was cold with the temp. stayed pretty much around 40 the whole time. It will get even colder and maybe even rain tomorrow so it has to be done today. Today's ride reinforced to me once again the importance of dressing up appropriately for the weather, it's makes a big difference between a miserable ride and one that is tolerable and dare I say, even enjoyable. We started off with a group of eight riders. Five decided to bail earlier and cut short their ride because they were cold and miserable. I finished the whole ride with two other riders and it turned out to be quite fun, due largely to my friend Tom who is also the ride organizer in how he had designed the route with the first half into the headwind but coming back on the second half mostly with a tailwind. He's got at least a dozen different routes he can call up anytime that take into account the wind conditions, pretty neat. My feet stayed toasty and comfortable today, thanks to the merino wool socks and a pair of Endura overshoe cover, both worked well together.
