Always seems strange to me, I never realized this was the reason tho. Now I know why I saved roughly $300 CAD on a Manitou fork buy purchasing it from Germany.

As much as I like a deal, MAP makes some sense in today's market landscape... it keeps the likes of Amazon and Walmart from gobbling up market share faster than they already have.
Amazon does not officially recognize any company's MAP policy, nor will they enforce MAP policies on any of their marketplace vendors.

There is enough chatter out there about X4s that I wouldn't touch them either. Besides, Thomson stems are butt ugly.

Geez, Have at least 3 X4s going on 15+ years of service and never had issues. Anything shorter than 70mm I don't like the look of. There are far uglier stems, like Enve, and that carbon monstrosity in the other thread.

Yes, they crack as well. If you want, you can do a google image search and see some. (not a snide comment, just so you can see where they fail)

EDIT

Someone put some links in above.

Yeah, I noticed they are no longer listed on their website....

Funny, since I have a 20 year old Thomson X2 on my Legend and have never had any issues....though I have not ridden it in the past 5 years.....
