Always seems strange to me, I never realized this was the reason tho. Now I know why I saved roughly $300 CAD on a Manitou fork buy purchasing it from Germany.

Geez, Have at least 3 X4s going on 15+ years of service and never had issues. Anything shorter than 70mm I don't like the look of. There are far uglier stems, like Enve, and that carbon monstrosity in the other thread.

Yes, they crack as well. If you want, you can do a google image search and see some. (not a snide comment, just so you can see where they fail)
