585 is a great frame. I have an older one (would call it an Origin in later years) and have an Optimum. They are both awesome, but I really love the Optimum. Fits me really well and I think the Headfit on it makes it maybe a little stiffer up front.

Really a nice riding frame. Simple, no quirks like earler Looks, easy to set up, classy, relatively light, stable, fun to ride!

No. Look quit making the 585 when the 695 came out, I think. Has been out of production for 3 years, maybe.

Edit: 2011 model year was first year Look did not offer the 585/595 frames. 2010 was last year for them.

i have always wondered about this. so, really, no difference in feel between the 585 and the non-lugged 586?

OP -- if you need a 586 instead, excelsports has it.

They feel the same to me, but I might not be as good at noticing subtle differences as someone else. I'm not heavy so I wouldn't be able to tell if the 586 was stiffer. I don't think the 586 is any less comfortable on long rides on imperfect pavement. (which many of mine are)

I'm a happy owner of both a Time VXR and Look 585. There was a discussion not too long ago about a Look 595 that you should read that talks about the 585 as well...

Thanks for the link to the 586, that is a sweet frame too. Anybody knows where to get a 585 frame in size small, please let me know. Thanks to everybody so far for their input. It seems that the Look 585 is one of the highest regarded frames out there. The fact that Thor Hushovd chose to ride the 585 for the Paris-Roubaix at a time when he used the 595 for other races, says it all.

There was a small 585 in the classified back from this summer and the seller never marked this as sold, so it might be still available...

The only bike I ever really regret selling was my 585 Ultra. Shoulda kept it....

Look stopped making bikes in 1 cm increments about 10 or 12 years ago. That was mistake 1. Mistake 2 was discontinuing the 585/595 series.

The 585 in 1 cm increments would be pretty much the perfect bike in my opinion. I fit right between the L and the XL but am closer to the XL.

They are excellent bikes and aren't killer expensive. Try one and if you don't like it you'll get your investment back. My eyes are always peeled for another XL 585 Ultra. I still can't believe I sold it.

I bought a NOS 2007 Look 585 in 2009. It's an absolutely fantastic bike. Pretty much everything that's been said about the bike rings true for me.
Quick, but not twitchy, accelerates like a bat outta Hades, and when the roads get unpleasant, my friends on their Wiliers, BMCs, and Treks gripe about the road surface, I just pedal on with a smile on my face, enjoying the smooth ride of my Look.

Ditto what they others have said. The 585 walks a fine line of balance that many of the newer modles/bikes do not.

try RA cycles

They have 586s and 595s on their web page. No 585s, though.

They have a small 586: http://racycles.com/road/look/586-sl...-2012-frameset

Hurray, Look 585 frameset found!

Guess what, I am going to France in October and just made a deal with a bicycle shop where they have a brand new Look 585 frameset in size small. The price was initially 1300 Euros, but we agreed on 1000 Euro ($1300). That seems totally acceptable for a new frame and fork (+ headset) with full guarantee. I cannot wait to get it in my hands. From what you guys told me, I am in no doubt that it is the right choice. Thanks!
