I'm not really attuned to the "old wealthy rider who wants to keep up on group gravel rides without training much" market. I don't think it exists in this area, so possibly good prospects for growth?

there's two distinct versions of Moots, the prior semi-custom titanium builder, and the current cash cow milk the brand version. Which are you referring to?

What about seven's foray into carbon - Diamas SLX
https://sevencycles.com/bikes/limite...ect-diamas.php For the price, I'd get in line for a firefly electric, which I may do if my health stays bad. |

“Made in Asia in a partner factory” is a shark jump. What is moots now? Boltcutter adding stickers to carbondas?

Somewhat interesting, it uses a 47T 1x front chainring, meaning no "narrow wide" profile like most (all?) 1x chainrings I've seen.. Is this a shimano thing or ?? just curious, not to derail too much!

Who buys e-bikes like that? Seems a small market to me at $10k a bike.

This seems similar to my brother's dilemma with his BBQ place. He has some of the best in town and the demand is there but product and labor costs have almost made it impossible to run his business. He would have to charge so much for his BBQ that nobody would want to buy it. To counter this problem he began offering other 'cheaper' meats and a variety of daily specials to give more affordable choices and bigger profit margins. At some point you have to make some money to keep the lights on and Moots may be feeling the effects of the higher interest rates and higher production costs. I don't like it but I don't blame them for playing the cards they have available.

When I heard about this last week, the second thing I thought about was getting my popcorn ready to read the pace line comments.
I hope it's a good business decision for them in the long run. On some levels this makes sense to me, your brand should be a guide, not a jailer. You may have built your legacy with a given material but if that material just doesn't make engineering sense for a new project then it makes sense to go in a different direction. |

There are still "Litespeed" carbon bikes.
https://obedbikes.com/ Same company, but they renamed the part that wasn't quite in line with their core branding of Ti. Maybe Moots will do that in the future too. |

Honestly, this could be a home run for Moots. The number of sales of these could potentially be in the high single-digits...
