Here is a NJ road to keep it fresh. Acceptable for both the road and mid-gravel bike.

And the bell can not now be un-rung. Mid-gravel bikes are now a thing. I literally just invented a genre. You heard it here first.

In any event...

I think 25mm tires are overrated. 28 are often faster and more comfortable. This is a weird hill to die on.

I also think that, in order of capability, the list goes: road, allroad, gravel, and adventure.

But yeah, I can see there being a subcategory like adventure/gravel race for the faster bikes ie aero and whatnot!

excellent question. the honda civic test is the decider between mid-gravel and gravel. And if the test fails miserably, the two-foot addendum may become necessary.

Mid-gravel???? Ugh. Way too much decision making involved. I have enough trouble deciding what socks to wear, now I have to choose between two gravel bikes??? I'd beat myself up for hours trying to decide. And then, suppose you pick the mid-gravel, and during the ride you see a nice piece of singletrack or a not-so-maintained fire road that looks sweet, but it would a handful with skinny tires. Besides, those roads are fine using a road bike, with maybe a second set of wheels.

Where were you in NH?

Someone else mentioned the third bike should be a mt bike. I agree.
