Probably the same reason Peak Design did it for their new outdoor bags - get the capital and a great demand estimate before speculating

Assuming it's the same mount, the ones on my bikes are solid and I wouldn't think twice about the weight.

Cool looking design though, great way to bring something practical to bikes not designed for it.
I've taken mine fully loaded up on some gnarly single track with my full rigid. Even hit a few minor drops. Mount didn't budge. Bag was fine. Lid stayed shut. Chocolate chip cookie not so lucky.
