My current gym doesn't have spin classes, but previous gym in a different city had a couple of quite good spin classes weekly. What made them good was they were led by cyclists - either roadies or triathletes - so what we did in those classes primarily was based on stuff we do on bicycles. Other spin classes at same gym were led by non-cyclists, and they were awful.

So if you can find spin classes led by genuine cyclists, can be a useful off season addition.

It will be interesting if those kind of spin classes come back. 10-20 years ago we had cyclist led spin classes (free) in the corporate gym at work.

Then they got rid of most of the spin bikes for some reason.

Then a few years later when Soulcycle got brought in they took the gym room again and leased it to a local spin place that was completely following the Soulcycle model.

That place went out of business in a couple years (it was $200/month), and the bikes disappeared again. I remember one of the owners straight out saying "we offer nothing for cyclists". But we did at least get a remodel of that room, it gets used for free HIIT classes and such now.

This is a weird thing where I haven't actually worked the same place all that time but I've had access to that same gym space now since 2005 because I've worked for multiple companies in the same office park.
