The new 3t are much better..the older ones I’ve seen in my lbs look pretty bad in comparison, I think both in paint finish and more importantly the design such as seat post. And that is why I said ‘most’

Same! I had one of earliest generation crux and it was an awesome bike. Cantilevers and a nice pink and black finish…I rode it as a single speed at the cohutta 100 mtb nue series race, used it as a gravel bike, a road training bike in the winter, and raced it in cyclocross events.

Temperatures were great; highs in the mid 70s though the winds did get pretty strong at times! I have tons of photos but it is a pain to upload them here, unfortunately. I am going to ride SR-12 tomorrow from Torrey towards Escalante; the summit of the road that goes over Boulder Mountain is at 9,600 ft! Should be fun

Specialized is a strange brand in many ways, and the Crux is a great example of it. That bike is the perfect example of how a simple old fashioned looking bicycle - with very normal looking frame, stays, head tube and cable routing can be just close to perfect.

Don't miss Hell's Backbone Grill in Boulder. Best food in the area.

Nice write-up. So now I want an Aethos AND a Crux. My Seven and Lynskey are great I just want slightly larger tires on each.

It was closed when I rode by around lunch time. Maybe next time! I really enjoyed riding in this area and wouldn't mind coming back, perhaps with some riding friends next time

Some of the most beautiful country you'll find anywhere. My grandpa loved that area, so growing up we drove out there from CO at least twice a year. It's beautiful in every season, but spring might just be my favorite.

Those early repeated trips have sure left an impression--deep respect and love for the desert. Lots of our adventures began/begin out of Boulder, so I know that mountain well. Here's one of my favorite shots of my dad on one of our rambles off the Burr Trail down that direction.
