No experience with the others listed, but I had a set of wheels built around the quills that were fantastic. The spec and build quality were top notch, and they seem to be more available being us built

Another vote for Eastons
Very happy with my Eastons - they are somewhat aero, and work really well set up tubeless with Hutchinson 25's. I don't think they are that different from the HED's in terms of overall build quality. My wheelbuilder also offered the Kinlins, which he really liked.

As for value, hard to beat the DT460. Velocity hasn't really had QC issues for a while. Yes, some when they moved the whole manufacturing operation from Down Under(Australia) to Florida but that was years ago. I see that you mentioned alloy but look at these too. Not much more $.. https://btlos.com/

H Plus Son Archetype?
Lots of drillings available. A couple of colours - black, gray and silver. 23mm external width, so maybe 19mm internal? |

Have 460s and 411s. For the money the 460s are great. You are looking for more internal width but I noticed my ride slightly cushier with 25s. Gonna try 28s next.

Do you have a source for this? Looks like a nice rim.
I have some Boyd Altamont Lite wheels and have been very pleased with them. |

Almost forgot Open Pro UST meets needs more or less too. Don't know what the status of production is on them though.

https://novemberbicycles.com/blogs/b...c-open-pro-ust Pretty sure mavic stopped production. However their allroad rim seemed to fare better as it was wider and probably a bit heavier, but only available as a pre built set https://planetcyclery.com/mavic-allr...m_source=zaius |

Favs for me are Belguim iterations, all. But for me the h+ architype get used a lot as i am squemish on Hed prices.
I grab once built or straglers no realized as a build every chance i get though. I also did Pacentis for a year, but the V1 SL23s converted me from the brand after getting stuck with 8 as paper weights. The disc ones still fine, SL and CL. The SL23 should have been recalled imo. I did love the braking performance on them too. Kinlins, are any welded? I have some 31ts on the wall I've never laced up. Almost bought Kinlin 26t, same erd as SL23s, but never got there either.. But the ones I keep are usually the Belguims I build. 10 years back I replaced all the OP rims here with A23s, still all in service and exceeded what I thought to expect. I deemed the alloy quite soft, but live on... Maybe due to all 32 spoke 3x builds... Last edited by robt57; 04-24-2021 at 11:02 AM. |

My wheel builder rates them better than the DT's which aren't bad but not great either. I just bought the last pair of 32 hole UST's I could find so will find out how good they are? |
