Thanks. I'm very excited about it. It should be a great bike. Solid frame, with a great parts mix. Haven't finished (or really started) it yet, and already scheming for the next project. |

Align the derailleur hanger. I've had two of these frames, and the hanger was out of alignment on both. I also have an alignment problem with the rear wheel not being centered between the chainstay at the bottom bracket on my newest frame. That issue is probably not fixable but I can live with it since it is only slightly out.

fwiw, it probably is fixable; the beauty of steel, really. you just gotta find a builder who can do it. then strip it and get it on an alignment table to see where it's out. could be as easy as the dropouts being out of phase; couple minute fix. it's a process that takes time to determine exactly what the issue is, but then is very quickly fixed (in general).

I would probably walk to my parts box and look inside. Whatever parts have the fewest scratches AND still actually work would be what I would choose.
I would also be sure to use recycled cables and housing, brake pads that have some actual pad material left, tires that don't have too many cuts, etc. Pick some wheels that aren't too out of true. Then revel in the anti-snob, flippin' the bird to the establishment vibe. Aaahhhhh............ |
