Edited to refer to the ointment.
If I were still racing I'd use it. Nowadays, it's legwarmers only. BTW embrocation does work, but it's a ritual and one has to respect the process. Last edited by ghammer; 05-08-2024 at 01:19 PM. |

I think the OP was about embrocation - as in the balm you put on your legs in the cold - but it has transformed to a discussion about the publication?

Funny, a racing buddy from 20yrs ago recently posted about using embro and I thought "is that still a thing?!"
When we lived in MA I considered it but never did.....no need out here in SoCal oh yeah, I still wear a Mapei cotton cap under my helmet on virtually every ride :-)

What monsters aren't wearing cotton cycling caps under their helmets. Also, bib knickers are the best thing. |

I used a lot of embrocation BID, mostly in the cold and/or rain. Vaseline on top of it in the rain. I don't miss the smell at all. I don't know if it really worked, but we all thought it did, that should count for something

Embro just reminds me of college era cold rides in New England. Now, I'm a cold weather pansy, kinda miss the post-shower burn...felt like you were alive.
Watching the spring classics, the announcers definitely made references to embro. |

Just walking into the pre-race dressing room was intimidating; the real racers are here!

Free unused MA mellow embro up for grabs—just cover shipping. The OP passed on it, so if anyone’s interested, let me know and it’s yours!

I dont think it makes sense if not shaving. Are you guys using it still shaving??
Actually I did use it post shaving era. But that was on my feet before a cold ride. Not for warmth-was more a comfort thing. |
