I think he's switched between "riding" and "owning". He currently owns one he's never ridden.

Agree. I’ve ridden a mass produced carbon bike, didn’t do anything for me, but I suspect a crumpton would be a different experience.

Argonaut has always intrigued me and dare I say the custom Enve bike?

No. I think at some point I’ve owned bikes of all the standard materials at some point. I don’t consider magnesium or bamboo to be standard materials:

My thought exactly.

Vaast looks like a newer company that is making magnesium frames.

Is there a frame material/type of bike you regret not owning?

Road? True Temper OX and Carbon are things I'd like to try at some point, but I'm feeling pretty satiated for the near future. For MTB I want to try Ti for a hardtail and 853 for a full sus at some point. On chunky gravel, my MB-1 drop bar conversion really has me craving nothing else... I can't imagine something better than what I've got for the sort of riding I'm doing right now. Hopefully have a custom coming down the pipe for all-road that I'll get to mull over in the coming months... having dreams of Max and maxed out mid-reach brakes...

Of course, I do have a fork made by you on my CSI… that’s a consolation.

One material I don’t regret not owning is that Colnago NFT…

"Regret" is a powerful word, and I don't think there's anything about bikes or cycling that I honestly "regret". But I will say that I have fairly recently conceded that I will most likely never own a Titanium frame -- not because I don't want one or can't get one, but because

- A) I can't imagine having so few bikes left that I can justify getting yet another (unless some miraculous windfall occurs, of such substantial size that I can afford not just a new Titanium bicycle but also a garage to house it in!)...and

- B) all the guys whose Titanium frames I most admired and/or lusted for have stopped building!

So while I don't "regeret" not owning a Titanium bicycle, I suppose on some level I'm "sad" that I won't own a Titanium bicycle.

A quality Ti all-road/gravel bike. I'm not sure if I'll ever try one though. Mostly b/c there's no guarantee I'll be convinced the change in ride quality will be justified. At 1.5-2x the price of carbon, I'd need to be certain and not sure how to be convinced. So the thought will probably always linger.

I'd like a high end stainless at some point. If I magically came into 10k tomorrow, then it would be a very hard decision from a shortlist of 3 or 4.

I've never had a ti bike, either. I can admire them, though they just don't speak to me for some reason.

I have only ridden steel and Ti but I have an opportunity to pick up a colnago c50 at a reasonable price... Do you think this will scratch the carbon itch?

I doubt it would give you a feel for today's carbon bikes. They've evolved into something entirely different.

To be fair, I haven't ridden a C-50. But I do have a C-40 that I rode this morning, and I've had various new bikes in recent years.
