I use carb cleaner to flush the shifters and then lube with Teflon lube.
Took 6 years and 50,000+ km for mine to stop shifting. |

STI Trouble
I had to rebuild a left (front) ST-R7900 lever that was experiencing the same symptom as yours. That paddle which went limp is supposed to be held in tension by a spring on its backside which is anchored on the outer lever body. The spring is maybe 5 mm and it will permanently distort. The fix: I restored the spring as much as I could, then I lopped whatever I couldn't wind, and then fashioned an anchor hook. I'm not going to tell you how many tries I had before I got it working again.
