That is a good deal on the Synthe. My hat size is 7 3/4 and the large works well. May have to pick up a new one at that price.

This is the Smith helmet that I have
https://www.smithoptics.com/en_US/p/...400WB5559.html

I got it in the bright orange which looks like is no longer an option, as I mentioned up thread I use it for commuting as I have a "nicer" helmet for road/ gravel rides.
However there have been a few occasions last winter where the days were rather grey and I wanted the added visibility so I took this out for some decent length rides and did not experience any of the issues that you mentioned, obviously this one dosent have a visor, but I haven't experienced any of the other problems like it banging into my glasses etc... might just have to do with head shape etc.. I guess.

Really the only difference I can tell between this and my Lazer that is triple the price is that it is lighter and has way better ventilation (which in my opinion is worth it, when you are doing long rides in the summer) but comfort wise they are very similar.

- Visor is always crooked no matter what I do
- Helmet doesn't stay put while riding on hard terrain even if I crank it down till I see stars
- It somehow interferes with glasses as you turn your head, for Rx glasses this inteferes with your vision like crazy. Add in the helmet refusing to stay put on technical terrain and it's making my vision go fuzzy right when I need to see the trail best.

Too bad cause it has a lot of coverage and feels like a very protective helmet with the Koroyd + MIPs.

I don't know if it's maybe the MIPS causing the issues with it hitting glasses and refusing to sit still. Maybe, but I have had a lot of MIPS helmets without this issue.

I've had a lot of helmets. Definitely been quite happy with Lazer, Kask, Specialized, and Bontrager. I need to try POC at some point but I'm not sure I've run into them to try on.

I have the previous gen Bontrager Velocis that I got dirt cheap when they made the new one. That's a great helmet, the markdown was something crazy like $300 -> $130.

I've had a Kask Protone for a few years and it fits me better than any other helmets I've tried on, but that's the key point. Try on a bunch and buy one that fits your head.

I've got two Abus helmets, both made in Italy. Airbreaker and Gamechanger.

Yeah, the Align II Mips is a great helmet for only $55. The Specialized Echelon is a little more but also excellent and reasonably priced. I’ve been wearing POC helmets the last 5, 6 years. So comfy I sometimes reach up and tap my head to make sure I didn’t forget to put it on before leaving home.

Mines a MTB helmet.. I think they just go further down your head and that's how they hit my glasses. But it would depend on the glasses too. If I wear my regular day to day glasses it's not an issue, but it is an issue with my cycling glasses (Rudy Project Rydon). The regular glasses are definitely substandard for eye protection though!

Obviously I am full of it though, Smith has 750+ reviews of the helmet on their website and not a single person has thought the helmet deserved anything less than 5 stars. Not even a single 4 star review. Take of it what you will, online reviews are online reviews.

Do you care about how fast the helmet is aerodynamically? If ventilation is more your thing, the Specialized Prevail 3 has been my absolute favorite summer/tropical helmet. Thought it was overpriced when I bought it, but it has been worth every penny riding in >90F weather.

had had several Giro helmets...

Pneumo was good if a tad heavy, had two Aeons which gave their lives to save my head. liked them very much.

got a Synthe MIPS and it has the annoying habit of rotating backwards slightly during a ride. nothing drastic, but no matter how it's adjusted, it still insists on moving slightly.

the link someone posted on it shows a great price, I paid twice that.

I’m a big fan of sweet protection. Highly rated by VT. I have the falconer 2 aero. There were some on close out at pros closet and on SP’s own site.

+1 on the Airbreaker anyway. Nice and light, and fits my head shape well.

Lazer Z1 Kinetiicore with the aeroshell if you ride in cold weather. Awesome ventilation with a built in safety system like MIPS.
