Well ****. I'm probably going to need to snag one of these... I just recently added the Robert Axle Project x Chris King thru axles to my Lobster to match the bottle cage bolts and headset. Matte turquoise on Lobster Racing Green =

Found all kids of specs on it on the King website except the weight.
I guess if you're running King, weight is probably the last thing on your mind like their overweight hubs and headsets.

Just when you thought whitworth threads were dead, the fine folks bring it back to optimize the lowly seat binder.

All kindling aside, at least it's got a barrel nut and doesn't thread directly into the clamp body. Looks good to me.

But that left them with no off-setting visual cue at the top of the bike to make the look more symmetrical. If this strikes you as a goofy way to think about your bike, fair enough, but it’s one of those things that bothered our eyes a little, and enough riders asked us to make a seat collar that we went ahead and designed one.

Why You Want It – Because colors make you happy. Because what we wrote above about symmetry and balance makes sense to you. Because it’s another high-quality component you can use to show your bike how much you love it. Because it just looks great.
"

They have the cute factor.
How that factors with the cost?
Are they ever going to buyout the guy making the bottle cages?

Well thought out, well executed, of course, and far superior to the Thompson.

Anybody hazard to guess why the barrel is pinned, maybe stops any creaking when tightening?

I had a Thomson on my Zanconato but couldn’t ever really get it tight enough to prevent seatpost slippage. The 3 or 4 mm bolts aren’t enough. Eventually I replaced it with a cheap one from Amazon that isn’t attractive but does the job.

This one actually looks pretty attractive, especially if it were available with the Sotto Voce graphic.

Keeps it sitting straight/level for the bolt to screw into.

It looks very Salsa like. This is a good thing because I really like the Salsa design and they work well.

The price is not too bad either. A little high maybe, but not crazy like I might have expected from King.
