OT: (Halloween) Candy.

I got maybe 20 kids. Neighbor around the corner (TH development, so just follow the sidewalk around) got about 100. I have no idea why, but next year, I'll be buy a lot less candy

Halloween is quite a thing around here. We passed out 2,000(!) pieces of candy last night. Mostly one per kid until I needed to shut it down for the night, then upped it to 3 per. The OP’s choice is solid — based on my research, the larger, flatter Reese’s cups have the preferred ratio of chocolate to PB as compared to the smaller, taller cups.

We haven't gotten a trick or treater for a number of years, and most of those we used to get were families who would drive to our neighborhood — a form of wealth redistribution.

I still buy candy just in case -- Butterfingers, always (my Mom used to half-joke that they were fresher at Halloween).

Put me in the "candy corn is disgusting" camp.

I snagged a bite sized Snicker today at the diner--my total intake for Halloween. (We used to get a few kids, but now we are surrounded by Orthodox neighbours who I gather do not celebrate/partake in Halloween, so no reason to buy any...)

Two blocks of our area gets closed to vehicular traffic from 6pm to 0pm.
The kids from neighbouring streets come over for the event. One resident used to hire a fire eater/juggler before she moved away a couple years ago.
Last year a local business owner gave out hot chocolate on his lawn. I heard this year he was giving out ice cream which he sells at his business.
It's a fun event and it was (almost) record warm last night.

As for the candy, I aim for 100 pieces for about $10. Boxes were going for $20 for a while but I finally got some for $10.88. My wife started digging into them first and was shocked how small things have gotten. She prob ate about 20 and I ate about 6 before the 31st.
I took a closer look today and realized they don't even put a weight on the packaging but as a reference, the box of 100 chocolates was labelled 1 kg (IIRC).
The Reese peanut butter cup is about the size of a chocolate from a box of chocolates. Maybe even smaller.

I probably had about 400+ pcs of candy and chocolate to give out. I got tired after about two hours and a dozen pcs left so I shut things down.

only bought fullsize candy.. and gave away the gluten stuff first. So only GF stuff left (except for 1 bar) only 12 kids came +2 adults.

One of the many things I love about where I live: no trick-or-treaters. 1/2 mile long driveway on a dead end road out in the sticks.

I don’t eat candy, no real craving for sweets. Haven’t bought a bag of candy in 13 years.

Ha! Less than 10 minutes ago I sent my kids upstairs to get ready for bed and pillaged one of these exact pumpkins from their candy buckets.
