I love this idea. I had just the down tube decals on my old vamoots and I thought it looked much cleaner. Black would look really nice.

For no reason I can figure, the road Moots stuff never appealed to me.

Psychlo X showed up yesterday.

Unpacked it last night, rode it for the first time today. Even with the wrong cockpit, (bars too wide, stem too long), it was wonderful. Could be a candidate for an N=1 situation, if that ever occurs...

I'm in love.

Yep, no surprise here... I really expected the 61mm BB drop to be an issue. Even bought an eccentric BB kit to lower it. But nope, it has in fact made me rethink 75BB Drop as my previous 'need' being in my mind. So the EC/BB goes into the ample parts bin.

Took a bit to get used to the Shimano drivetrain, will be replacing it with a Record 12 group sitting on the shelf.

And the Dura Ace cantis were not impressive.

But the bike...oh, the bike!

It just felt so planted on the trails!

Awesome bikes. Very happy for you to be so taken with your new Psychlo -- hope the same for your CR.

Possible N = 1 is strong praise!

Looking forward to seeing the build progress and ride reports and any comparison between these two.

The main thing I don't like about my moots is its high bb. This seems like a good solution to that issue.

Does it change the effective seat angle or fo anything else funky to geometry?

Moots makes a great bike. I really enjoyed the Psychlo X I had a few years back. Smooth responsive and very versatile! I have had a handful of other Moots bikes and currently have a Baxter. All of them were excellent rides!

Turns out the Psychlo X was built as a show bike for Shimano, who used it at events (probably to show off a new group). The group, and the entire bike, looks basically new, a real time time capsule from 2011.

I'm only slightly reluctant to strip the group (and the big Shimano decal)...but only slightly. I'm a Campy guy.

NOS stock Campy Record hubs are on the way from Condor Cycles, and OldPotatoe will be building up a set of wheels with BTLOS carbon rims. Yee haw!

Taking the Psychlo X apart now. It sure feels like it was assembled in 2011 and never taken apart...I ended up removing a rear canti post with brake.

The Ti canti fitting has this interesting crescent on one edge of the top surface to properly locate the three hole spring washer. When I first saw that, I thought part of the fitting had broken...but no. I was able to remove the post from the brake caliper and reinstall the canti post in the frame. Whew.

Also found that the bike has a Shimano headset with balls in retainers. Haven't seen that setup since my the old Nuovo Record days...need to replace that with a Chris King.

Now to figure out how to get the crankset and bottom bracket off.

So many parts, so little time!

For some reason I expected a press fit bottom bracket. Turns out it's regular BSC threaded. Shimano crankset and cups came right off, new Campy cups went on nicely. Sweet.

Progress...

Next I think all the white decals are coming off...some quality time with the Dewalt 20v heat gun.

That went well.

I think I'm going to leave the model designation, the "Made in" on the chain stays and the small "Moots" on the seat stays, all in white.

It's understated, now that the large white logo on the down tube and the Shimano decal on the seat tube is gone.

Oh, and it will match the incoming Moots Vamoots, which has white decals.

Don't ask.

Looks great. I'm a fan of just the top tube model and down tube classic white Moots.

Did the same on my Vamoots SL

Sweet.

I do have to install a "Guaranteed Not Built with Reynolds 531" decal, along with my QR code decal that has my contact information and a photo.
