Sounds like it to me too. Got knocked unconscious? That’s pretty freaking serious. I’d definitely follow post-concussion protocols even if the doctor said you don’t have one. That diagnosis sounds, at best, negligent and irresponsible.

I should buy stock in Tegaderm. It's a great product and I've been using plenty of it. The Tegaderm + gauze method is key!

Agree with the way the concussion was handled by the ER staff. I'm following up with my primary this week. Meantime, I'm taking it real easy and leaving the bike in the garage.

I have no concrete symptoms of concussion but I'm taking care of myself to the max.

Thanks to others for sharing their experiences. Love this forum and the people in it.

Good to hear you are ok - please give your brain a rest for a bit (e.g. v little computer time etc).
And time to shop for a new helmet.

head injuries are weird...

was taken out by a hit-run driver and left unconscioius on the side of the road with broken thumb, separated shoulder, cracked sternum, and road rash...

I remember leaving my house after work around 6pm and making it to the half-way point of my route. the next memory is talking to a guy in OR scrubs hours later.

spoke with one of the EMTs who attended me at the crash site and she said I was totally conversant with her, provided my name, where I was employed, my address, etc. even requested that they take my bike to my residence (which they did!). I have no recollection of any of this.

so, yeah, being out cold and ensuing memory loss pretty much indicates a severe concussion.

monitor yourself closely and if you suspect anything brain-wise is not in perfect working order, consult a doc.

Glad to hear it wasn't worse. Take it as slow as needs be to get back in the saddle and heal up quickly.

I got hit from behind, and was 'out' for 15 minutes. Came to in the ambulance. Happened at about 10am on a Saturday morning. Altho I was 'awake', I had NO memory of anything until about 9PM on Sunday...scary stuff..to think I would be 'awake' but not 'aware' of being that way...

Came here to say this. That's 100% a TBI.

-Signed, someone who's done a number on themself a few times and also has a few relevant letters behind their name.

OP glad you're okay. I'd take it a bit easy if I were you. Some things announce themself after the fact. I would 100% be very careful if riding outside now and I would personally ride the trainer for atleast 1-2 weeks after something like this if not longer. If you hit the deck again and have another LOC episode... you might be in for a baddddd time.

Heal fast!

Glad it wasn't too bad, but definitely did something to your head if your were out. Protect your squash and rest your brain. I had a bad mtn bike crash where I should have been wearing a full face helmet. Had to get my face sewn back together and go to therapy in order to get my brain working correctly again 6 months later. Still affects my short term memory some.

Have no memory of the crash or the next hour even though I was awake and walking under my own power. Had friends with me to escort me out and to the hospital. My memory starts when we got to my friend's car. Nada before that.
