We usually have a rose sparkling at Thanksgiving. Cava (from Spain) is inexpensive, but good with food or by itself. My wife loves everything France, so she will add a dash or two of Creme de Cassis to her sparkling to make a Kir Royale. If you add Creme de Cassis to regular white wine, it is just a Kir. Regardless, it's fun. My Wine Access delivery is scheduled for next Tuesday. I'm like a kid on Christmas morning, anticipating its arrival!!

I'm fortunate enough that even though I live in small town USA there is fantastic bottle shop. I've talked to the owner on several occasions about how things are done and it's crazy. Between local laws and what amounts to in my opinion almost cartel like organization you can deliver X and Y here but only A and B there and so on.
He has Californians buying California wine from his shop in Virginia because of the insane supply chain. |

Only two reasons I can think of:
1. You need at least $150 in the cart. 2. This must be your first order from Wine Access. If either of those are incorrect, then let me know in a PM and I'll reach out to Wine Access. They've been very responsive to my questions. |

COSTCO just introduced this year's Wine Advent Calendar. 24 mixed 375ML bottles from around the world for $99. We tried one case last year and found quite a few wines that were new to us, either as varietals or origins and we enjoyed most of them. Closer to Xmas when we were well into the Advent season COSTCO dropped the case price to about $65 and we bought another. !/2 bottles are appropriate for Thursday nights when Les had choir practice and doesn't come home for supper. They also work well when I want a white as an aperitif and a red with my entree. It could be fun to open these 1/2 bottles for a group wine tasting with your friends.

I would love to know the details about who produces Costco wines, and spirits. We had their Pinot Noir at friend's this week and oh my, it tasted much better than the $17 per bottle that he said he paid for it. I suspect it is a "known" winery, just not known to us! That 1/2 bottle package is a good deal, particularly would stock up when they drop the price!

I got my WineAccess shipment this past week. Probably too late to order for delivery prior to Thanksgiving--hard to believe that is NEXT WEEK!!! But, time for delivery before the Hanukkah/Christmas/New Years celebrations. Again, to get the $50 discount and free shipping you will need to put $150 of wine in your basket and it must be your first order with WineAccess. http://share.wineaccess.com/v/Louis

Wine Access has their Black Friday 15% off special going on early. I'm not sure how that works if you are a first time buyer and getting the $50 off deal. I think you can go to the link in the first post, then once you are in, go to https://www.wineaccess.com/earlyaccess
There are restrictions on which wines are 15% off. And, it should work that the original $150 total prior to discounts is what qualifies for both the $50 off plus free shipping, but again, I'm not positive for first time buyers. Would have to check the cart/invoice prior to placing order to find out. I placed an order last night for some great deals made even better with 15% off. |

RE: COSTCO Advent case: A red Bordeaux was yuk but a red from Moldava( who knew?) was excellent and several other reds and whites were just fine. For $4 for a half bottle we are pleased to expand our tasting experience.

There is a Costco wine blog (titiled that) that often identifies the producer, at least of stuff like Brunello.
