If you are brand new to racing do not spend a fortune in my opinion. Like others have said, the Cannondale CAAD's are great bikes that should not cost you too much. If you are doing crits I would go with an aluminum frame, something that can be replaced if you go down. Cat 5 races are known to be a bit hectic to say the least. But definitely upgrade from your Trek.

Colnago sizing is different. If it was a 52S in Colnago Stada SL it's probably closer to a standard 56. The TT on a 52S is 55cm measured C-C level.
We have a 54S in stock that has a 56.5cm TT. |

My suggestion would be to keep your Trek as is and use it as your winter/sloppy weather bike. Take your $2500 and purchase a complete bike, new or used, where you can get the most bang for your buck. Im guessing you can finda full Ultegra bike in that orice range.
