Both the CAAD3 and the purple Trek get bonus point for coolness and looks. To my eyes anyway.

So nope, probably not yours, but how did you like yours? Around the net, I see folks calling this bike a noodle and not liking how it rides, but I'm actually really happy with it! The Gravel King 26mm tires and the nice wheels make it nice and smooth, and I dig the good vibrations the bike still transmits. Not nearly the unified, composed, symbiotic experience that riding a top-notch modern bike gives you, but it's good enough and then some, and a blast to ride. |

Felt F1PR, hi-mod carbon, medium-reach rim brakes, fits 32's. On a rare cloudy/story day in the Los Padres, north of Santa Barbara.

I love this bike, difficult to replicate the feeling of riding one of these in disc brake form

disc brakes are wholly unnecessary.

I've got a 2010 CAAD 9 and 2011? Supersix that I bought affordably frame only from Paceliners. (Thanks!)
The CAAD 9 was so good, and not at all what I expected. (Not super stiff in any way-and shockingly comfortable for me.) I loved the fit and handling. Great bike. Of course, that had me wondering-would a SuperSix with the same geo be better? When I saw one for sale here I could not resist. I think the SS may be peak rim brake race bike (for me). There is certainly a bit of nostalgia in it, but I can hop on this bike after 4 months of riding a MTB in the snow and it just feels right in a way that I can't really understand or explain. It was inexpensive enough that I do some fairly silly things on it. Watching mud extrude from the narrow gap between tire and rim has been soothing. |

I figured I'd ride off into the sunset on my 2006 Serotta Legend Ti but last October it developed a crack in the driveside chainstay and was essentially totaled. I'm quite pleased with my new ride and really digging the retro look of rim brakes on a state-of-the-art bike.
