New Urban Cycling Sneakers -- SPD possible

Another nay vote for Velosambas. I liked the style, but they were far too narrow for my feet and after two times, I sold them. BUT... As a Stan Smith wearer, they're wider. Adidas just introduced the VeloStan. I will likely be a buyer once they start dropping the price as they always do.

Hmmm, I found the opposite. I commute 7 miles each way to work and find them quite comfortable all day. they are flexible enough for walking yet stiff enough even on the way home which has me climbing 600ft.

I have several pair in diffent colors. My vanity knows no bounds

I think it took a little bit to break the velosambas in, I don't find them narrow, wider than my regular cycling shoes.

I use them if I'm just riding down to the store to grab something, anytime I need to walk around much and primarily I'll ride before and after wearing them to the gym down the road. I also like to pack light when I travel so they're a two birds with one stone item.

Those would be destroyed in my climate, but they are pretty beautiful!

Why people pay extra money for casual shoes with spd cleats just to commute with clipless pedals never made sense to me. Just run flat pedals and regular adidas sneakers for way less money.

I picked up some inserts for short commutes. Doesn't take the place of clipless, but might be an option for some.

I have a pair of DZR shoes that are a few years old and are holding up well, even in Seattle winters. I’m about to switch back to them after a flat pedal summer.

Agreed. My look vibram pedals and chacos served me quite well today for an hour of commuting!

Some of us just want the flexibility of feeling extra sporty while commuting. My commuter bike has T8000 pedals and it's nice to have the option, even though most rides are in sneakers.

DZR used to be the only game in town and I wore Dices from 2012-2019. TBH quality was always pretty low. Over that 7 year period I probably went through 4 pairs, but they fit well and could always be found on sale. What I use now is are the Ride Concepts Accomplice Clip. They're supremely comfortable, though only moderately walkable:

Do these sneakers with SPD cleats click when walking on hard surfaces? Or are the cleats recessed enough to walk in silently like regular sneakers?
