Marin Service Course sold a Wilmer bike to a billionaire for over $30K. Every bearing on the bike was replaced with Ceramic Speed bearings.

Anyone want to wager how tall and what size the owner of AC is and rides?

Any of those bikes would look so good in the bike rack on my Hybrid Porsche cruising the streets of Marin County.

While we're on the topic of Marin, what's a good coffee shop to ride to up there? For reference, I'd consider Home, Sightglass, or Cat & Cloud to be my kinda jam.

So that's about $28,500 AUD. At these prices, I guess I should quickly collect my Baum that's gathering dust in Australia and bring it back to DC.

Frankly this price creep is pretty offensive. I paid $3495 AUD for my Baum frameset and fork in 2008. Don't get me wrong, Darren makes nice bike frames. But this seems illustrative of the growing inequality we're seeing and I'm not sure it is an approach I'd support.

AC stands for...

Absurd Checkbook?

Back when Whole Foods hadn't absorbed them, my sisters called Bread & Circus Bread&Checkbook. Now it's Whole Checkbook.

How about a quick exercise:

chime in with the ratio of

(your best guess estimate of your best's bike current market value in like new condition) to (the msrp of your most expensive automobile in 2022 model year)

GO!

A existing customer, and potential customer of A/C bikes know what they’re getting into; cost wise. Both Baum and AC know their target market, and charge accordingly, to profit and pay their employees a living wage.

FYI, both the Baum and Provo are spec’d to the gills for CK’s anniversary, including custom paint for Chris King’s Open House.

I’m sure you could spec a baseline Baum, and be much cheaper.

The prices of these bikes make me feel that the cost of my next bike is not as unreasonable as the dollar amount indicates since it will be exactly what I want. I'm sure the people who end up buying these bikes will be pretty happy with their purchases.
