A 2011 Surly Long Haul Trucker with low miles I found on craigslist . Replaced the brakes including the levers with Tektro V brakes. Original Continental Contact tires 700 X 37 with 3236 miles on them and not showing much wear. The bike started out life with a generic Surly build. Mostly a blend of 9 speed Shimano drive train including the bar end shifters. Generic triple crank set. The only thing I have changed is the brakes, stem and saddle. As you can see, racks and fenders added for touring.

The only time I use this bike is for loaded touring and it rides and handles great with a load. I have spent all day slogging along loaded and have never felt beat up by the bike. If you are shopping for a touring bike, the LHT should be on your short list. I have other bikes for club rides etc but I have seen people use theirs for casual recreational rides.

Some shots from the dirt road version of ididaride today. First organized ride ever for my daughter. She is a trooper as this was only her second ride of the year and she road a heavy fatbike up the hills that others were walking! And one of the crew pre ride. Get well soon Dave!
