I sent Steve the Look geo chart and asked him to build me a frame that utilized the contact points from the Strada Bianca with the geometry of the 585. The result is the Maglia Rosa you see attached. It's a great riding bike, maybe just a bit more compliant over the less than ideal Tucson roadways but with the same crisp handling and acceleration that made the 585 such a pleasure to ride.
Very handsome steed and a custom fit is pure luxury. I momentarily forgot the smaller 585 frames had those sloping top tubes.

I would say a very good deal Especially in CAD since that is only $783 USD

On the surface it seems to be a very good deal. I wouldn’t buy it until I could inspect the “wear and tear” and measure the frame. To me it seems small for a Look size large.

Judging from the fact that the listing is already gone, I will confidently assert that it was indeed a good deal.

Seriously though, I’m still in the honeymoon phase with my 585 Ultra fwiw, but anything under $1K for one of these with useable components is just a ton (or about 16lbs) of bike for the money—especially if you’re like me and will likely never come close to using this bike to its full potential.

585 in Santa Cruz

I saw this in my own search for a 585. $900. But it's an L and I'm an XL or XXL.

595 xxl

This one has been up long enough that the seller just might begin to entertain shipping it...

Here's a rare tangerine XL in Berkeley.

I called and talked to the guy—and he says he sells 200 bikes a year. He won’t ship or even drop it off at a shop to ship. Since this one has a seat mast, I asked him to measure the saddle height. He supposed to text it to me later this afternoon. He did say that people drive from all over the US to buy bikes from him and that I was welcome to come to Iowa. He also mentioned that it was -6 F there today. Not the vacation destination I had in mind for February.

This could be a great pick up for someone local that could inspect it--or if a PL member could look at it in person and facilitate.

That tangerine one looks nearly NOS. I remember seeing this same color on an eBay bike for a time that was just the frameset. I wonder if this is the same frame someone built up.

That situation in San Diego looks interesting. If I were nearby I'd consider it and make an offer. But it's too far away. I'm just borderline between the L and the XL but I've made it work with the XL for years. That one looks to be in very good condition and I hope someone gets it and enjoys it.

Seller just texted me saddle height: 30" (~76cm). Unfortunately too short for me, and probably most other guys who would ride an xxl. I can't remember exactly how many spacers you can put on these seatmasts, but IIRC, I think it is around 3cm.

It's got a Pro's Closet sticker on it.
