My Bruno sends his condolences - what a bummer. I love seeing how pets slow down the pace of human life. That photo of your daughter staring into Bruno's eyes is amazing.
Every morning, my Bruno leaps onto our kid's beds and licks them awake - it never fails to put a smile on their face. He tips over and lays on top of them as they clutch his neck like a stuffed animal - so zen |

My condolences to those who've recently lost a pup.
But I'll say what I usually say in this situation: They might be gone, but they'll always be with you in your heart and in your memories. Woof! |

Condolences to all who've lost pets. After 15 years, we said goodbye to Dot in late 2021. We were also unsure about a puppy, so we decided to resume fostering rescue dogs as a way to figure ourselves out. 6-year-old Lucie was fresh out of a home puppy mill situation, and she figured us out very quickly. Now we live in her house.

Our new puppy. 11 weeks old. The grand nephew of our last dog, whom we lost last summer.

Last summer my brother got this wonderful dog. He has 2 kids and now finds himself in the terrible situation where he feel their life just does not work. I guess a classic case of not realizing that a dog regardless of how nice is a lot of work and time of your all rdy busy day.
Kennel has said they would buy the dog back. Which i guess is a good solution all things considered, esp for the dog as they will make sure it comes to a good home. Personally i love this dog and i would be really sad to see her go. She is the cutest little thing, friendly to all, playfull and no problems at all other than perhaps she has not been trained enough just yet or maybe just young so she is a bit mischievous (which is a quality i kinda like in a dog but perhaps thats cause i can leave when i want to). Now im gettiing older and dont have any kids of my own. So the idea of me taking over the dog entered my mind. Ive always wanted a dog (in theory) as i love these fantastic loving creatures. But i guess im kinda scared i will make her a home but then find myself in a similar situation as my brother in the sense that i find life more difficult and somewhat feeling tied down in every day life as i now have this dog to take care of and who depend on me. I guess im not sure of what life will be like with a dog and it would break my heart even more if its me that will have to give her up in the end. I will have her this next week to try whats it like living with a dog as if it was my own. Im excited but i also have doubts. Now im not the type of person who just goes out and do stuff so this isent taken lightly, i "perhaps" dwell on decisions to much. Hence no dog no kids and no tattooes .) I could do with a change in life tbh and she is the nicest dog i ever saw. Wish me luck and if you got any pointers, thoughts or similar experience id love to hear about them. Bjorn,
Hope this finds you well. Not sure it's not somewhat vice versa, in that dogs take as much care of their masters. Hope you find comfort in whatever decision you make. Cutie-patutie btw. Regards, Jeff |

When I traveled a decent amount for work, my wife wanted to get a dog to have a companion while I was away. I wasn’t too keen on the idea……..neither of us were familiar with having a dog, so we really didn’t know entirely what we were getting ourselves into.
18 years later, we currently have our second, and I can’t imagine never having one at home. |

My son and his family just got a yellow Lab pup. We get to babysit Bertie along with the grandkids twice a week. I must say our workload has increased exponentially but damn she is cute.

I'm sorry for the loss of your pup Prototoast--I sometimes think that serial dog owners have the biggest hearts of anyone, because you know that you are going to outlive the one you have--but your life is so much richer for having them around...
We're currently cat-free (after 20+ years of mom, her babies and finally a rescue) and the house feels weirdly empty. So I'm a surrogate caretaker for this big lug. He's a rescue and was in tough shape when he arrived at my friends' house--so matted that they thought he was a Labradoodle--turns out he's a purebred standard poodle. Here he is trying to be a lap dog (who is in desperate need off a clipping in this picture.) Last edited by paredown; 02-25-2024 at 06:15 AM. |
