Out and about in the hills along the Mississippi. Potters hill and a view from on top of Sundown. Pretty this time of year here.

Yesterday - Long Trail Century to benefit Vermont Adaptive Sports.
Cool temps and a few sprinkles - post-ride showers dampened the party at Longtrail brewery, but still a good day and ~$300k raised. |

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures on my 75-mile gravel ride, which is 3X more fun than the road ride on Sat.
But I got the route here on Relive. https://www.relive.cc/view/g21883339110 It's the national course in Rosebud, TX, best gravel ride I have done so far because of a number of reasons, but the most important one being it's 95% gravel, 5% asphalt....unlike some of the gravel rides I have done in the past where it's like 60/40, or 40/60. A picture of the Van Dessel gravel bike that I took to the course where it performed admirably.

We went to higher elevation to find some cooler temps.
This was my first ride since swapping to hydraulic calipers. The bike stopped when I needed it to Granite Creek Jackass Meadow It was deeper than it looked. Last edited by henrypretz; 06-24-2018 at 07:17 PM. |

Yesterday we did our annual sunset ride up to Mt. Wilson. Quite an experience descending Angeles Crest in the dark.
No doubt about it, I gotta get a better light. Mt. Wilson nocturne by cgolvin, on Flickr Mt. Wilson nocturne by cgolvin, on Flickr Mt. Wilson nocturne by cgolvin, on Flickr |

Been there. Descending from Clear Creek I lost power on my front light. Had to rely on the illumination from the riders ahead. Not fun. Well, at least no cars.

Via Verde is possibly the most amazing cycling route in Catalonia. Starting in Tortosa you can do 140km of a breathtaking ride, which goes through what used to br old train lines and is now a paved road. Fontcalda, the last picture where I am swimming in the mountain river, is definetely the highlight of the whole journey, but pretty much the whole ride you just want to stop and start taking pictures of the scenery. I’ll be returning for more on July 1st again. If anyone ever comes to Spain and this region in particular, I would highly recommend doing this route.

The city, the pacific and a dense redwood grove in one ride. Hard to beat
