Started out today with a 15 mile time trial effort (but not the pace) into the wind to get a care package for a forum member to the PO. Made it to the PO with 5 minutes to spare, then headed out to ride some gravel in the far corner of the county. I had a route in mind, but the ride was going so well that I extended it despite the threat of rain. Of course as soon as i was committed, I had a flat. No patch kit in the seat bag so had to use the spare tube. I was 35 miles from home at this point so the logical thing to do would have been to head for home as I had nothing if I flatted again. I don't get to that area very often so carried on. I ended up riding the last 30 miles with intermittent rain, lightning, in the dark with no lights. Ended up with 97 miles for the day; not bad for the first week of April, starting mid afternoon.

I ate many clam cakes at Rocky Point (as well as rode many rides, of course) during the 70's and 80's!!! We used to also go to Lincoln Park and Nantasket Beach...ahh...great memories.

The Skyliner (ski lift) is all that is left. The first picture shows a portion of the now empty expanse

That cemetery looks just like one we used to ride past when I lived in Indiana (Huntington area). I did a double-take when I saw that picture; the resemblance is scary!
Sounds like a good ride, though.

I must have passed by 5 or 6 country cemeteries yesterday. I will often walk around reading stones when I come across one I haven't seen before, but didn't take the time yesterday.

53 mile solo training ride yesterday MA/CT/RI, training partner had to bail. Weather was supposed to break and get into the low 50s, but it was in the 40s with drizzle, fog and blustery winds the whole ride. Stopped at the half-way point for a double shot of espresso. Got in a few dirt roads.
