Bad because (at least my) bodywork does a good job of keeping air off you except for a few spots. The calm air behind the screen/bodywork make long days in the saddle a non-event. The R-RT is a lot better at that than my GS-Adv was. The 'hey! where's THAT road go?!' factor does go down on the R-RT. ...which was why I traded my 1st one in on that GS-Adv in the first place. The Oilhead boxers are just about 'bang 2 rocks together' easy to work on. Once they hit about 36k miles, the valves stop moving. Ya still gotta check em, but you usually didn't need to adjust em. Takes me longer to get the bodywork off than it does to adjust the valves. M |

What do you think of the 500? I've always wanted to ride one. |

New scooter day for the Mrs. Picked this up off of Facebook marketplace. It is a 2018 Vespa GTS 300 Touring edition with 700 miles on it. Her first comment when she got back was "I looked down and couldn't believe I was doing 60 already" I'll take that as a good sign.

My Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 on a road I've cycled hundreds of times in my life! I've been cycling long before I got into motorcycling and it's always fun to compare riding the same roads on bicycle vs. motorcycle. |

Way more enjoyable (for me) on a bicycle. Things are just moving too fast to the moto to take in even half of it.

Very true about things moving too fast. I would describe it as a different experience. Somewhere along the road as above in my photo, on a motorcycle I feel I have to "muscle" the bike to get it through a particular windy bit of the road, whereas on a bike I almost never put any thought into the same section of road. I do enjoy the slower pace and savoring the peacefulness of country roads on the bicycle, whereas there's no way to do so on a motorcycle with engine noise, exhaust smells, and loud wind noise blowing against you. As a result, I'm tempted to drive more "spirited" on the motorcycle since there's no point in going slow.

I bought Adam's '84 BMW R80ST.
I've basically owned three bikes in my life...a KZ650, a '72 BMW R75/5 (sold 25 years ago), and now this ... And a lot more time on my hands...ride my bike for a few hours in the morning, ride the motorcycle a bit in the afternoon. I'm not predicting boredom. SPP |

My ownership has been on hiatus for several years so this is another painful reminder along with seeing my leathers wrapped up in plastic until I pull the trigger again! Toyless and joyless....back to window shopping on CL...
Be safe out there Previous ride purchased new - goofy pic was a photo op for my Dad - RIP https://photos.app.goo.gl/an6w5iguPwHLzu3Q9 Last edited by denvervig; 09-06-2020 at 07:40 PM. |

I sold a few bicycles this year with an N-1 mentality. My motorcycles are headed the other direction with an N+1equation to balance things out. I picked up a 2020 KTM 690 enduro r on Monday.
Gravel riding is all the rage not just for bicycles, but in the motorcycle world as well right now. If 2021 turns out better than 2020 I hope to ride the KTM from Pa to Maine on all back roads following this route. https://ridebdr.com/nebdr/ |

My local bike shop signed on as a cake dealer in November. I’m kind of tempted despite the high price.

That route looks pretty amazing dan.
i'll have to do some digging to see how much of that might be appropriate for a gravel bike too, i'm guessing a decent percentage. i also wonder what percentage of that my scrambler could handle? again, probably most if they are actual roads. let the daydreaming begin!
