I would say (for their inventiveness, purity, site integration, short- and long-term relevance, harmony):
6. Spiller House/Studio; Frank Gehry; 1980; Venice.
5. How House (L A H-C M #895); Rudolph Schindler; 1925; Silver Lake.
4. Colony of Homes (group); Richard Neutra; 1959-62; Silver Lake.
3. Millard House ("La Miniatura"}; F Ll Wright; 1923; Pasadena.
2. Stahl House (Case Study House #22); Pierre Koenig; 1959; Hollywood Hills.
1. Eames House (Case Study #8); Charles and Ray Eames; 1949; Pacific Palisades.

There are many others; the order of 6-2 changes often for me; #1 never does.
I will be looking these up.

Evening commute. The little dots in the water in front of the pilings are otters out for a sunset cruise. And goats clearing a path.

That's not a bad commute!

Hey it's all growth all the time here right now (for better and worse). Not much happening on Bainbridge unless you are in retail/restaurants/service but Seattle of course .....

Sounds like a horrendous contrast. I really dislike almost all large-scale private "lawn art". It is often just so hubristic. If one can afford that, and has good taste/care, just donate to Storm King, Chinati, Dia, or some similar place, imo.
I can understand your viewpoint and wouldn't say I'm a fan in general. In this case I find them complementary to the architecture and space, especially since the lower one looks like it could double as a kind of climbing apparatus.

Can you be more specific on location? I'd swing by on a future pass to PV.

I live pretty close to that nondescript apartment building on Roxbury that has the Gehry addition on top (believe it's the "Wosk house"). I really like that juxtaposition and have always been curious about what it's like on the inside.
