Thanks. Wife and I were in Paris last year on vacation for a week, and did a lot of sightseeing. Now that I am here for two months (half of it without my wife, who is not a cyclist), I have been trying to have a less touristy and more cycling intensive experience. Paris is amazing to get around on a bicycle (the infrastructure is great), but the real fun begins when you leave the city. Particularly to the south, where there are some nice quiet roads, and hills Going to join a group ride tomorrow morning actually.

It's nowhere near your tour and certainly not in the category with the Gamble, Hollyhock, or case study houses, but I always enjoy riding past this house when doing the "5 b*tches of Beverly Hills" ride:

1151 (?) Summit Drive (intersection with Marilyn Dr.). Beautiful modern design with sculptural elements and spacious grounds.

I remember when that property was a construction zone. For a structure that large, somehow there's harmony in the pavilions. Not sure Cadence90 would agree.

Less costs more.

On Sunday we rolled by my favorite home in the area but since I don't know much about the architect or home's history (it's been in many commercials), I only pointed out the obvious, the interesting home site. The north elevation wall is extended so the roof line can wrap around the front tree.





Less is flat.

Yes, that's the one. Since that picture was taken they've introduced two large sculptures into the yard, vaguely reminiscent of Jeff Koons (to my eye), one at the SW (ish) corner of the home, and another lower on the property. I agree that despite its size, compared to most of what now gets built, it's well-scaled to the lot.

In stark contrast, on Saturday I once again rode by that monstrosity on Stradella that the developer plans to list for $500M. Horrible. All that space and you know that it will be empty 95% of the year.

This was taken yesterday, day two of a 50 mile a day for five days (in a row) challenge I put on myself.
