Landshark cross with zipp carbon tubulars
Knobs on the Racing Ralph's work great in the loose over hard surfaces in Marin.
Light, nimble - loving it for mix terrain

New Diverge.
Nice bikes. Swapped the wheelset for some Ardennes and mounted up a pair of Barlow Passes. Really nice and smooth.

First day without smoke in quite a while. I took my new bike for its first real ride. Lots of fun even on sand.

Yes, it is an Upper. I've only been on a few short rides because of the smoke in our area. I'm headed out on a trip with longer rides planned and will post more then. From my 25-mile ride on Sunday, I was impressed with the stability of the bike in sandy soil, and it handled deep gravel really well. (The Compass Switchbacks certainly helped.). I like the geometry, not as agreessive as my road bike and very stable in all conditions. The bike was great on a 12% hill with washboard gravel! I can't wait to take it out on more rides.

pushing the limits of gravel bike? it worked today anyway, explored a new rode, started paved, that only lasted a bit. rode the goodrich with 27mm pave tubulars pumped to 75psi.
ended up 7.7miles up for 3k ft climbing! looking down at compy, the pitch was between 5 and 15 percent the entire time, and mostly on gravel. im tired. the views were incredible and i could even see areas some fires had affected. i also fell and smashed my phone and put a hole in a new jersey, damn it.

Jan would tell you that if you werent running skinny tires, you wouldn't have fallen, would not have broken anything and could smugly tell others they are wrong

haha! you know whats funny, I have a Jan-style 650b bike being built for me right now with much better gearing for this sort of thing. I was seriously wanting it on the ride. But i did not know what I'd find, only that it would be uphill. And this bike is game for anything i throw at it, so i figured why not.

As for falling, I prob would have fallen on fat tires too, as I was being careless, climbing with one hand on the bars while trying to swat a swarm of flies away with the other. Let my guard down on the slippy stuff, learned a lesson today.

I'm actually on the Saddle Loop Trail on San Bruno Mountain. Easy going gravel loop.

Any recommendations for connecting between Mt. Davidson and Twin Peaks? I'm only familiar with the Mt. Sutro to Twin Peaks connection.
