Be honest, are you really that psyched?
I've cancelled Sling and no longer have access to most of the matches. Given the way UEFA Nations Leagues has been going (which is to say, players toiling to fulfill fixture requirement), it really feels as if it's time for a break. I could sneak in something about that match in Tedeschi-terre, but let's not go there Instead, England got a royal pasting, at home no less. Last edited by echappist; 06-14-2022 at 09:18 PM. |

I hear you. I guess I just can't presently be arsed when most of the player are in serious need of a break.
There's actually going to be an exhibition match between Bayern and City in Green Bay, and that's about a two-hour drive. But again, can't be arsed, unfortunately. Hoping that you didn't catch Donnarumma's gaffe. Yikes. Lad's confidence might get royally messed up, first with that PSG match and now this... |

Mancini again changed the lineup and played 9 new players but he has yet to insert a new keeper. I am totally puzzled. Donnarumma is terrible with the ball to his feet. He must have some good pictures of somebody. |

geez....what a horrific game. The pitch was virtually unplayable...
Nice to see a local boy get the last minute equalizer, but geez. No idea what the US keeper was thinking on the goal he allowed....never give up the near post!!

I'd give up the far upper corner and applaud you if you beat me there. Never get beat near post. Ever. |

Well, this is pretty damn cool: Lumen Field Selected As Host Venue For FIFA World Cup 2026
Anybody know when tickets go on sale? A friend of mine made the trip to L.A. to watch Brazil v. Sweden in 1994.....I have always regretted not going with him.....ugh.

As some of you know, I refrained from watching the 2022 Winter Olympics, and I shall boycott the World Cup in Qatar.
Given that FIFA basically extracted concessions on tax revenue (PM me if you need a link to the article, or alternatively, this one here from the Guardian), the 2026 World Cup may yet be a bit too odious for my liking, as it was reported that various local governments handed out tax breaks in order to have the "privilege" to host a game. If that's the case, it's absolutely shocking, abhorrent, and yet expected. Crony capitalism at its best. I wonder how much more Philly has to go before it pays off the loans taken out to pay for the baseball and football stadia... |

Story is about Miles Robinson - not Antonee who is the Jedi card shark above
USMNT, Atlanta United defender Miles Robinson arrested for misdemeanor over $5 shot 3:04 PM ET Jeff Carlisle U.S. soccer correspondent Miles Robinson has been ruled out of action with a torn Achilles tendon since May. Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports Atlanta United and U.S. international defender Miles Robinson was arrested Saturday on one count of misdemeanor theft by taking, according to an incident report from the Cobb County Police Department. Robinson was also given a criminal trespass warning. He was released on $150 bond after the incident. Atlanta United issued the following statement: "We are aware of a recent misdemeanor arrest involving Miles Robinson. We are continuing to gather all information related to the incident and will not have further comment at this time." According to the report, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN, the incident took place at PBR Atlanta, a bar near Truist Park, the Atlanta Braves home stadium. In the report, it is alleged that Robinson refused to pay for a $5 shot that he had taken off of a drink tray. The bartender alerted management, who asked police to escort Robinson off the premises and be "criminally trespassed." After being detained by police, Robinson was told all he had to do was pay for the drink and he could leave. According to the report, Robinson responded, "All this over five dollars, bro ..." According to the report, Robinson accused the bartender of being racist during the interaction. The report reads: "Robinson stated, 'You only want to listen to the racist bartender, you aren`t going to listen to me.' I attempted to explain to Robinson that the bartender observed him take a shot and then walk away and alerted the managers. Robinson would not listen but stated that the situation was because he was the only black male inside of the bar. "Detective Goduto then explained to him that all he had to do was pay his bill and that if he did not pay the bill the manager wanted to press charges for theft. Robinson once again stated all this was over five dollars. Robinson did not indicate that he was going to pay the bill." Robinson has missed most of the current MLS season after he tore his right Achilles tendon back on May 7, an injury that is almost certain to rule him out of the 2022 World Cup, which starts in November. Entitlement.
Apparently, he lacked friendlies who would have fronted him the $5.
Perhaps his behavior somehow overcame any tendency to assist. Theft is theft. The amount is not relevant to the principle of the crime. This seems to be lost on many, many people today. Try that in a pub in Ireland. $5 lump on the noggin; they call it even. Last edited by RobbieTunes; 09-08-2022 at 03:18 PM. |

The bar have waitresses/waiters walk around with a bunch of drinks on the tray. The somewhat tipsy customer thinks that the drinks are on the house, and the bar is fully willing to exploit this misconception. Only afterwards does the bar tell the customer to pay up. Most will pay up and probably refuse to return in the future, and the bar is counting on the fact that people won't make a big fuss over $5 (think about it, what item in a bar these days is actually $5). But with tipsiness, rational behavior is not a given. It still does constitute a misdemeanor of some sort on the part of Robinson, not to mention the sheer idiocy to refuse to pay $5 when given a second chance and now having to pay his lawyers a few orders of magnitude more, but the bar is likely fully cognizant of the ploy. It's a rather unscrupulous (albeit legal) tactic by the bar. |
