Argentina won 2021 Copa, the 2022 WC and now 2024 Copa.

England -- the sum is considerably less than than the parts. A lot of great individual players, an average TEAM.

100% agree.

A few decisions just really get me...
- Continuing the play Kane even though he's clearly out of form or possibly injured. Especially while not giving him a clear partner.
- The reluctance to make pro-active substitutions and instead waiting to go down a goal before making a change.

I'm also a Liverpool partisan, but still... not being able to find a system that has Trent in it is baffling to me. But he couldn't find any system so... I hope he goes, and they get a manager willing to play modern football, in a way that suits their players. Eddie Howe, Brandon Rogers even.... they won't though.

Colombia v Argentina was so much more fun to watch. Gutted for Colombia.

Also what a shame with the crowd situation though. This keeps happening all over the world and it's ridiculous. Again the Liverpool fan in me knows all too well what can happen when poor event management can lead to tragedy. Glad that is seems (for the most part) the fans got mostly unscathed.

Brazil has 5 stars - Italy 4 (1934, 1938, 1982, 2006).

But I was referring to Spain and Argentina's WC wins sandwiched between Cups.

Germany comes close 1972 Euro - 1974 WC - 1980 Euro
They also have 4 WC along with Italy

They need someone a bit less beholden to the stalwarts.

Kane and Foden were mediocre at best, and not once did Southgate start them on the bench. Bellingham was slightly better but my was he petulant the way you expect a RM player to be.

But at least Maguire is no longer a starting CB on that squad. They also need a RB replacement (although 3 ATB with Stones being one of the three might not be a bad idea).

The following might be a decent set-up.
