My only thought is that the entire match, including the eventual extra period and penalties, will have less excitement than the first 10 minutes of ESP-FRA.

So which team is better at playing not to lose?

I have the feeling that Carvajal is gonna pull some Chiellini-style villainy. The least likeable of all of the players on the field.
Otherwise, the ref has made some questionable calls. Neither Kane nor Olmo deserved yellow for follow-throughs. Carvajal should have seen yellow. And now Rodri's out. All to play for. ----- Crikey, and Spain scores. |

C'mon, Spain isn't any less insufferable. Carvajal and Rodri put the Esp. in Esp. insufferable.

Unfortunately, reaching the final probably saved Southgate from being sacked. Before JB's equalizer in the match against Slovakia, even the English commentators agreed that the team's performance had been awful so far. |

England wasn't rewarded for playing anti football for the majority of the event, and i'm glad about that. With Spain, we saw a deserved winner, most convincing perormance throughout the tournament.
Whether Spain is the new uber-Team reamins to be seen. They were in trouble against a decidedly unbalanced and uncertain german team, for one. Maybe it is not that they were so good, but everyone else was not just there? We will see. They do have the potential. What we did experience was a tournament with mostly positive vibes, some new VAR discussions (what else is new) and first and foremost, we were able to spot some new and exciting talent - The two J(Y)amals, Flo Wirtz, Bellingham, Nico, Arda, some others, who might shape what top level football will look like in the next 5+ years!

No disagreement that Southgate lined things up rather awkwardly, with Kane looking as useful as he did in the 2019 UCL Final. Quote:
Foden and Kane should have been benched long ago, with Parmer and Watkins starting. Bellingham should also have been benched. |
