The rotors do rub under power. I think overall there's a lot of deflection allowed in the system; the bike just doesn't feel punishingly stiff. In fact, it rides as plush (to my senses) as my Cielo Sportif Classic without the extra weight drag. More importantly (for a lazy guy like me), the geometry is almost 100% road; the thing feels better on pavement than dirt (and it behaves as it should on the rough stuff). I dig it a lot.

The problem is you said the Santa Cruz and the C59 are about the said, that's a little sad for me.

Ah, that was just a little understatement and a stealth brag. Basically, they both great riding bikes I can abuse on the World Famous Montrose Ride or the World Famous Rose Bowl.
