I've been listening to the song Summertime. All of the versions seem great.

That was GREAT!
Perry Farrell's voice still strong. Band is tight! He seems like that crazy Uncle who shows up at the family picnic, where alotta guys quietly wish they lived his life... Not quite safe for work stage visuals...but google the 1997 Hammerstein Ballroom live show and crank up the speakers. Audio is ROCKIN'. Quote:

she has serious jazz chops when singing standards.
her duets with tony bennett are such a magical combo. was hoping to see them a few years ago, but alas, didn't. perhaps a pipe dream to think covid madness subsides to the point of them being able to resume touring together. Quote:

A couple to suggest
The GRP All-Star Big Band.
I was never a big fan of the the albums put out by the label's solo artists, but one of them, pianist Dave Grusin organized a big band that out out a couple of albums in the early 80s. Check out thier album, All Blues. Tierney Sutton- she can sing! Just a beautiful, wildly expressive voice and the arrangements she sings with her band are just right. A few I can recommend: Introducing Tierney Sutton After Blue- she covers Joni Mitchell tunes, taking them to new and insightful places Paris Sessions |
