I decided to take a trip back into time and got a vinyl of Johnny Rivers a Touch of Gold; and Bob Dylan the Essentials, Sly and the Family Stone greatest hits, picked up 2 more CDs of Nightwish to add to the Decade's double CD I got earlier.
I also added a Klipsch 12" powered Subwoofer, which I didn't know if it was going to produce satisfactory results because I tried doing that back in the mid 90's when I bought my JBL L7 speakers but the powered DCM 10" sub I got I returned it because it wasn't doing anything strong enough to notice, but now this Klipsch is doing a lot! It was on a huge sale at Costco so I had to get it and try it! Also, I had to get a new cartridge for my turntable and settled for an Empire S912E which wasn't their highest-end one but it got really good reviews, and the shop I took my turntable for lube and belt had a couple of these old school carts in stock, and the guy said it was probably one of the best carts for rock. I don't know too much about all the various carts, but I researched it online and they seem to think it was a good cart, all I know is it sounds wonderful, there's more separation, has a cleaner sound, stronger bass, tracks really well. Took that turntable into Speaker World in the town where I live in Fort Wayne because they have in-depth knowledge of vintage gear and carry a wide assortment of phono carts. I also got an acrylic platter mat from Hudson Hi-Fi, I heard a demo of this acrylic mat, and they're a bit more bass response and a bit quieter than other mats, including my original rubber job that came with my Rotel RP1000 from the factory. So probably the combination of the mat and the new cart is just making my vinyl sound really sweet now. Also took my preamp in for a cleaning, some of the knobs and switches were not working really well, the guy at Speaker Workshop in town (Fort Wayne IN) is a guru with electronics and speaker repairs, and gets stuff in from all over the US and parts of the world as well. So if anyone needs something repaired give those guys a call, they also do component repair which is cheaper and more accurate than total replacement of boards and what not. Anyway I had to throw out an advertisement for them. So I upgraded a couple of things in the sound system |

The The, "Good Morning Beautiful" Great lyrics. Some of them timely, given the state of the world. |
