For the last 3 years or so I've been on a sort of mission to see as many musicians that I *think* I might like to see as I could before they stopped touring for one reason or another. Well, the pandemic put paid to that, but I saw some great shows. Musicians whose names I couldn't even correctly spell, but who put on great, great shows.

One of them was Patty Griffin. This song, "Shine A Different Way", blew me away when she performed it. I thought I had posted this, but a search didn't return any results.

Still a catchy groove.

Flashback!

And yeah, his voice is a lot like David Byrne's. I never noticed that before.

The Call, The Cure, The Cult, The Church...

It's cold and dark around here these days. Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz are like fresh baked bread coming out of the oven.

Discovered Khruangbin this year - and thanks for the intro to Vulfpeck - listening to 'Back Pocket' right now - WOW!

Khruangbin is right up there for stuff I've listened to the most this year.. though I was listening for a few years now. Fantastic stuff.

Also they might take the cake for "most guitar pedals on at the same time" of anything I've ever heard after watching an interview.

Van Morrison
Sweet Thing

I can barely understand a word he sings in his live recordings, but he's intelligible in studio recordings, and he's on my list to see when this whole virus stuff is over. Any man who recorded with and received accolades from John Lee Hooker's definitely got somethin' goin' for him.

Live

With John Lee Hooker (The Boogieman, The Hook).
Yeah, he cooked with The Hook.

I did manage to see John Lee three times before he died. Met him backstage where he autographed my tickets (which I now think are lost). Wow. Just wow.
