Two Vamoots and a hot day in the San Gabriels

Introduced a friend to my favorite ride, Glendora Mountain Road, Glendora Ridge Road, to Baldy Village--pretty much the only ride I keep posting to this thread (one day I'll get conditioned enough to go to the lifts with that insane 10-15% grade for the last 2-3 miles--for now I like to stop and eat at Baldy Lodge and turn around ). Temps got into the 90s.

And the awesome section:

Action shot from a descent during last weekend's Cherohala Challenge; apparently I look really serious when I am descending:

U gotta hit the lifts...its actually not that bad. If you have a 34/28 or 34/30, you should be able to make it up. Not to say I particularly enjoy it, but I do goto the lifts 1-2x a year as a rite of passage.

It's nice to have mountains; I guess.

GMR is the Pinto or Pontiac Aztec of HC climbs. No trees, no beauty, no clear skies, no views. But if the choice is between driving a piece of crap or taking a dirty 3rd world bus with livestock and lepers ..

I have 34/26. Will it be be painful or just impossible? Not sure where I might have ever done a grade like that before.

That's just socal. It's great in Spring when Baldy is snow capped. Not many places around here you can get that, and few cars.
