Picked this up for my daughters friend to ride mtb with us. Late 90s DBR team frame, XT/XTR 9s and the Mars C fork still works and holds air. Couldnt find much info about where the frame was made, but it's pretty light bike as it came. It may get a suspension seatpost to soften the ride a bit, though not sure many came in a 27.0 size and not sure I want to ream the seat tube to 27.2... TBD. Just got it yesterday and still need to replace some cables, chain/cass, and put on some knobby tires and it's good to go.

If it's an actual "Team" frame they were made in the US. If it's a Team Frame(replica) they were made in Taiwan. But they were still really nice frames, the Asian made ones.

Not in the workstand, per se - but a work in progress ...that I'm enjoying the he11 out of while waiting on some parts to take it in the retro-mod direction with a heavy dose of silvery goodness.

I'll share the full story of it somewhere down the road: short version SamIAm>JR59>Kirk007>Clean39T..

Riding this has fully reignited my love for steel bikes.

In all likelihood a team replica, as it's not all that thrashed, lol. Either way, it will be a decent bike for her to try out mtb.

At long last, these are going on the old Swisscross. It will be roadworthy soon! Brakes were the last necessary part (wheel upgrade TBD).

Today, Im converting this 1977 Schwinn Speedster from 1 speed coaster brake to 3 speed with a front hand brake.

the MAX tubed rain/winter bike gets some attention...

old chain from the TIME gets cleaned, lubed and used here...since its a singlespeed chain stretch isn't a major concern.

Still need to paint that rear fender and replace the broken front fender

While a couple of friends have encouraged me to follow them down dirt roads, I wasn't about to follow them on my road bikes. I came across a pile of bikes donated from the police department at the local co-op and found this SJ. It was all original, even the dry-rotted tires were what Specialized spec'd on the bike originally. I've swapped out the cockpit for drop bars and bar ends. I finished it up this T-day morning, but the weather is not cooperating for a shake down ride.

Today it's a bike I may regret buying. I usually stay away from French Bikes that need work but failed to listen to the little warning voice this time. I think it's a 70's Stella Sx 73. Lots to be done to it.



A better pic, bikes just slapped together to sort out fit and basically see what I've got here.

2017 Fuji Touring

Previous owner put many hard miles on it. Cosmetically it has a fair bit of scratches and scrapes but it has solid bones. I stripped it to the frame, cleaned everything, and am replacing a pile of parts including bottom bracket, saddle, bar tape, cables, tubes, tires, and brakes. Hopefully I’ll get it finished up and dialed in this weekend.

When I got it


Just add electrical tape.


Other recreational activities.


Stopping power is overrated.


Grease and grime.


Stickers removed, ready for a deep cleaning.


That’s better.


New Velo saddle from the parts bin.


It’s both good and bad that Universal Cycles is just up the road.
