This is the first time I've ever wanted to go to Iowa... that road looks awesome!

The race is a blast. You should do it if you get a chance, world's crookedest street, or so they say. I think it's harder to just climb it than to race it, I know that doesn't seem logical.

The big question is how long it took you to come back down in fixed gear?! :-)

great 70 yesterday with a fun group for a memorial day ride out to the town of Redbird. One of the many all black towns in our state. Just a ghost town now, but interesting history that dates back to civil war (old for us here, having only been a state since 1907)

Hot air balloons off in the distance:

the local jail with some town history:

who wants to spend a nite in the box?

Finished the day with some homade meatballs and sauce and some swimming.

A cloudy day on the peninsula.. but one of the better ones we've had recently. We don't have a lot of roads (~30 miles total, all dirt), but the ones we have get me out to some pretty beautiful wilderness.

Went up Still Creek road on Mount Hood and the gate was closed which was awesome (no cars) but I had to hike the last mile up to Trillium Lake and then several more miles through the Government Camp trails to get back down (less awesome).

70 miles, 6000 ft, lot of hours in the saddle:
Lee Canyon, 20 miles north of town. It's 18 miles to the top, and straight up 13 miles before there's a turn or a break and you see it all in front of you from the bottom--relentless.

Looking back about 2/3 of the way up:

Beautiful early morning ride in the hills. Phone can't really capture it--especially the feeling of being the only vehicle on the road for miles and miles . . .
