I've never found the bike to be "noodle-like" in my riding, in fact, quite the opposite. I'm 155 lb and not a power rider, though, so YMMV.

Thanks, she's a beaut! And now with a proper length 17° black stem on it, too.

Here's the old Merlin I picked up last year. Still sorting out the build but this is how I was riding it at the end of the year when the snows moved in. This bike gave me my fastest ride of the year.

Earlier pics as I sorted out things:

My upgrades so far are adding on a set of Wickwerks 53/34 chainrings, along with a new chain and a SRAM 11-32 cassette. I also put on new cables, a Zipp stem, Fizik Kurve Saddle and Look Keo pedals. I also swapped out the bad wheelset it had with some nice Fulcrum Racing 0's clad with GP 5000 tires and put on some bottle cages.

Picked it up like this with a Dura Ace build, the FSA crank and the Deore Long Cage RD and some not so good wheels.

The 1x found it’s way south to NYC. Think I will keep it here for summer jaunts up in Ulster/ Dutchess/ and so on. Gotta change the saddle back to my preferred Alpitude though.
