Favorite discontinued cycling product

C-record groupsets with delta brakes. Modern stuff obviously functions better, but damn I loved those components.

7400 Dura ace! I rode one of my bikes last week that has a 7400 group on it and was impressed by how well it still works after all these years. AND it looks great!

The other discontinued item I miss are race(y) fit short sleeve jerseys with actual short sleeves. Not sure about the rest of you but I don’t need a short sleeve that almost reaches my elbow…

They do a great job of covering up my grotesque old man skin.

The Avid Rollamagig. With a normal RD taking the loop out took a lot of friction out of the shifting. I have still 8/9 speed shifters that are still super crisp.

All the Sram 1x RD's uses what is basically the same thing, so its not really discontinued!

none of my SRAM Red,force and rival have the MTB cable guide that copies the avid rollamagig. And I can tell the difference

This one might be slightly controversial: Continental GP4000S II tires. They were a great combination of low rolling resistance and durability for me. They ran way large in width (23s measured 27mm on rims with a 19mm inner width), but that worked well for my needs. I stocked up when they were discontinued, but my stock is finally running out 😢.

totally agree! I got excellent durability from them...5Ks wear out WAY faster and don't provide any noticeable degree of improved ride quality.

Conti 4Ks were my go-to for years, after several disappointing experiences with the 5Ks, I'm switching to Schwalbe or Rubinos.

I know that Sram bought that business/IP from gore, but the sram red cables kits were never as nice. Last year (I think?) I bought a set of NOS cable kits but I think they degraded with time and gummed up with in a few hundred miles.

I forgot those too. The fully sealed, full length Gore Ride On cable sets were the slickest things EVER and would improve shifting on ANY bike. In the days of rim brakes, they would also improve the feel of any brake.

Another one is the DuPont full Teflon grease that came in syringes. Smoothest grease ever. It came in two viscosities, one for hubs and another for cables. The above Ride On cables made the thinner grease unnecessary.
We sold roller blades to racers and roller hockey players and on the racers, we would take the top ABEC bearing sets and wash out the grease and use DuPont grease and the customers would say it made them noticeably faster.

I have similar feelings about the Michelin Pro2 tires.. maybe it just rose-colored lenses because they were great tires for the time and tended to run large (a 25mm would often measure out to 26-27ish on Mavic rims), not sure who they would stack up with current tires..
