Updated my Ti Planet Cross this weekend with TRP's new CX8.4 brakes and Gore sealed cables. Compared to the EuroX brakes I was previously using, the CX8.4 has less pad clearance (~1-1.5mm) and requires more lever throw (I'm < 1cm from bottoming out when the brakes are fully engaged), but the stopping power is infinitely better. No more cable hanger or straddle carrier/cables to deal with either. I'm happy. As for the Gore cables, my old cables were rusting/corroding after almost two years of all-weather use, so it was time. I think she's ready for winter commuting!
This bike is f*ckin' awesome. Seriously, is anything more versatile than a Ti cross bike? |
