Back in the stand. Maybe I'll even finish it!
Guessing it's going to be a little too flexy for me. I at least owe it a go before it moves on. |

Which eroica/when? I was going to do CA this year but the date kept changing and now AFAIK it's postponed until 2021. I did it (heroic route) on a vintage bike last time but I think next time I'll just ogle the vintage bikes and do nova eroica.

Whenever the SLO l’eroica comes back I’ll be prepared....

I thought aero brake levers and indexed shifters are not permitted.

I tried to have as authentic a bike as possible. But even the most curmudgeonly of riders would have chastised me for having stainless cables instead of galvanized steel, and running a modern production Brooks Pro and Challenge gumwalls I always thought "policing" this event would be impossible. I look at it all as more of a civil war re-enactment. You'll see people out there with the outfits on, but look closely enough and folks are wearing sneakers and have digital wrist watches. A bunch of my friends did the full route on year one. By the time they finished, tents were being torn down and the food was gone. The folks checking the "stragglers" in looked disappointed to have to wait so long. So glad I treated the weekend as a casual ride weekend. I'd have been bummed. Do the Heroic route and come back to a Paupers' welcome.

From their rules and regulations: a) more recent bikes with gears and derailleurs, such as, but not limited to Simplex, Huret, Campagnolo, Zeus, Shimano, Suntour, etc. must have shift levers on the down tube of the frame; exceptions include pre-1980 non indexed bar-end gear shifters, Stem mounted friction shifters and rod/hand manual operated front derailleurs; c) we prefer the traditional brake lever setup on the bicycles, brake cables pass outside and over the handlebars (cables can pass inside the top tube of main frame), however, starting in 2017, aero brake levers without built in shifters will be allowed.

I want to eventually get down to 3 bikes so there will be this, one road bike, and one MTB. I think this ibis can be a backup road bike if I get some 700c wheels.
I have 2.1" thunder burts I'm going to use instead of these WTB tires. It'll end up being built with force/rival 1x and hope brakes. I think it will turn out to be pretty light since it only weighs like 10lb presently. |

I don't have any pictures but just did a Spectrum with a mix of SR/Record and Chorus 12s, mechanical, rim brake. My first 12s build, for a gent who works at Pro'sCloset. Watched the vids of 12s builds and gee...it went together just like a 11s build. Same chain length gig, same front der gig. Expected differences but there were none, really. Crank bolt from left instead of right but otherwise..

Funny that can actually be threaded in from either side on Potenza. (probably all models?)
Of course once threaded in & torqued in the wrong arm you notice ...hey my crank is still loose |
